I figured out why Poe’s ability is called what it is!

As in, why it’s two book titles put together instead of just one

So, in canon, Poe’s ability is called “The Black Cat in the Rue Morgue”

The real Poe has two stories, “The Black Cat” and “The Murders in the Rue Morgue,” but not one by the name of his ability

I realized however! That his ability is literally character displacement – he takes the people around him and traps them in a book, i.e., the wrong story

I was thinking…
If Kunikida’s notebook is kind of rare and special and custom made, why does he use it for anything other than his ability? As in, writing his ideals down?

BECAUSE!!! His notebook! Can bring! Anything he writes! To life!

He… Writes his ideals and goals and plans in there
So maybe… They’ll come alive too

I think the best part about Atsushi
Or rather, my favorite part
Is that… He’s not from Yokohama.

The orphanage was somewhere else, he ended up there while wandering around as a tiger – then he found Dazai, and, well, you all know the rest
But that’s the beauty of it, you know?
Atsushi doesn’t belong to Yokohama, at first, he wasn’t born there

But he watches as both the Agency and the Mafia work together to protect their city; because no matter what their morals they all love their city, their home, the home that keeps all the people Atsushi likes, where all the good things finally happened to him

And it becomes his home, too
And he wants to protect it, too
And he loves it, too

Which is why the last line of the anime adaptation is:

So no, Atsushi’s not from Yokohama – but that doesn’t make it any less his home
And as someone who’s deeply homesick for a country I wasn’t born in, that my parents are not from… That means a lot

And as someone who is the viewer, who also is new to Yokohama, who has to get to know everyone and everything inside the city…It also means a lot
Because there’s not too much difference between Atsushi and the viewer 😀 in terms of role (it’d be p cool to be part tiger too tho)

Away, as said, unfortunately – some nonsense about an impromptu exam. 🙄
